Whitby Exchange

                         February 2011 - Projected images

A Digital Projection exchange was held at Saltburn on Wed 16th February, from 220 images supplied by 24 members from Saltburn PS, 30 projected images and 30 prints were chosen. Advanced workers limited to one image each, resulting in 6 Advanced and 24 Intermediate images in each class.

12 members from Whitby Photographic Society visited Saltburn. Winning image - Jumping for Joy by Steve Dowd (Saltburn), Second - Susan by Richard Day (Whitby), Third - Building In A Building by Mick Robinson (Whitby).

March 2011 - Prints

Like the Digital Projection exchange, this was a selection of 30 images from each club, judged by an independent external judge

The winning prints were as follows:
First: 'Bad Hair Day' - Mick Lobley, Saltburn.
Second:  'Mount Grace' - Paul Terry, Saltburn.
Third:  'Local Extrovert' - Carol Walker, Whitby.

Highly Commended:
'Easy Riders' - Alan Parker, Saltburn.
'Sandsend Rocks' - Alan Meek, Saltburn.
'How The Mighty Fall' - Barbara Spanner, Saltburn.
'Diving Belle' - Dean Walker, Whitby.
'Old Boot' - John Inzsel, Saltburn.
'Children At Play' - Carol Walker, Whitby.

Community Photographic Competition

To celebrate our 50th anniversary we ran a Community Photographic Competition which spotlighted elements of the town’s heritage.

We were looking for social or historic significance plus artistic merit. People, places or events. Anything that shows Saltburn as it is.
