1.
Open your image. From the image dropdown menu select
image size. Make the longest side 500 pixels (my own
recommendation) and Click
OK.
Next you need your images that are
Adobe 1998 converted to SRGB this is because colours on the web are much better
retained with SRGB, this is only so for the web.
Also you need to save and convert to JPEG to ensure a small web file
2. From the ‘File’ dropdown select Save
For Web
This will bring up your image in another box where you can
clearly see what size the saved image will be in the bottom left corner.
3. Make sure JPEG is selected in the top
right dropdown menu, you can adjust the
size in the dropdown underneath, I
normally find ‘very high’ gives you
about the right file size.
4. Click ’save’
My recommendation for the web is to save images at no
larger than 100kb for two reasons.
a. Some people still have slow
connections so this will ensure they
don’t have to wait too long to see your
image.
b. To stop anyone ‘lifting’ your image
without prior permission to use or claim
as their own.
For our website I recommend that images are kept to around
60kb or less to ensure fast load times.
